in Communication
Communication is defined as a process that delivers
information from one place to another. The sender needs to have proper
communication in order for the receiver can decipher the message correctly or
otherwise it shall be what we call barrier in communication phenomena. Thus,
causing a misfit in the contain of message that being convey.
This is what we call a miscommunication in the first
place. There are many reasons that lead to why good communication fails
actually. That is why it is crucial for a feedback to confirm that the message
the being received as the sender intended. Moreover, barrier may cause all your
effort become waste and money consuming due to all these confusion.
Not to mention that usually all the conflict arise
is due to the fact of small misunderstood and barrier during communication. One
small distorted message can cause a war to emerge. One wrong word in
conversation can cause a conflict to occur between people. That’s why people
need to be alert and cautious when communicate with others.
The common barrier usually to happen is the use of
jargon in speaking. Why? It is in fact that it is over-complicated and using
unfamiliar term making the communication become tough and difficult. Using a
difficult term or unrecognized jargon can cause confusion among audiences.
Thus, it is better to use the term you confident only next time.
People will find that it is difficult to have a
proper communication due to influences of physic and mindset. Differences in
perception and viewpoint shall making people become harder to communicate and
causing a barrier to erupt among both sides. After all, the core of the
communication is the message itself. If people didn’t get the message then it
is a barrier.
Some are having barrier to communicate due to the
fact of their physical disabilities. For example, hearing problem, blur
viewing, speaking difficulty, and so on. This restriction will restrict people
in communication and causing them to lose their courage to engage in conversation. It depends on the person himself on how to
overcome this obstacle alone.
Having physical barrier to non-verbal communication
is another barrier that common to occur. This usually happen due to the
receiver can’t see or understand the message that is given through gesture,
posture, and body language. Thus, it causes the communication to become less
effective and not to mention creating an awkward situation.
Engaging in language differences usually occur to
make the conversation become harder. It is actually difficult to understand an
unfamiliar accent during communicate and not to mention when it happen during
crisis. It sure play with emotion and patience during communicate just to
obtain the necessary information that you seek.

All these also fall under the category of cultural
differences. This shall lead to the cultural shock which occur when two
different cultures met especially in communication. Having a difficulty in
communicate is a normal reaction. After all, having language barrier will make
people easy jump to conclusion and hard to even exchange a simple greetings.
The psychology of communicator sometime causes this
barrier to conduct. The psychological state shall influence on how the
communication is sent, received, and perceived. This is especially true when it
involved emotion during conversation. For example, when you are angry, it is
hard to send the message correctly without being influence with it.
Surrounding scenery can influence on the condition
of the conveyed message. If the surrounding is louder than your speaker, then
it will cause you to be hard in receiving the information delivered. Not to
mention, it shall make you hard to fully grasp the content especially if the
significant background play a louder noise than the speaker himself.
Communication usually easy to conduct over short
distance as the geographic distance plays a big role in conversation between
two sides. People are more prefer to have a face to face conversation rather a
long distance communication. After all, the ideal communication is face to
face. This shall make the communication conducted in the best and proper way.
Attitude of the audience is actually important in
having a good communication. This phenomenon is what people call as Attitudinal
Barrier. Just like the name suggest, it is come from personality conflict due
to the poor self-management conducted during conversation. Be an effective
receiver by overcome your own attitudinal barriers for effective communication.
That’s why people need to communicate properly in
order to deliver the message without messing up the content. Lack of
understanding the role can make the conversation more difficult and forget to
do respectively task. Without prepare or knowing what to expected is the main reason
why the barrier being conducted and causing miscommunication.
Try to be alert and cautious during communication.
Always apply the three steps every time to make you aware of the barriers to
effective communication and how to avoid or overcome them. The step that I
mention is consisting of is listening, clarification, and reflection. These
three steps will help you to check whether the message is clearly understood.
Break down the communication barrier. People will
become more understanding and adapt during communication between people who
have different opinions. By creating an environment like this, it makes people
feel safe to speak up without hesitation. No longer being restricted and having
barrier barricade from each other’s during communication.
. Conclusion, communication is a simple thing in the
end. What make it difficult is the human themselves and causing
miscommunication here and there. Thus, try to create an environment that highly
focused and achieve the outcome through proper communication. Engage more in
communication and disciple yourself to conduct a good communication.
